Seed Distribution 2021

In March & April 2021 we put a call out to all that wanted to take part in Sowing the Seed Project and come collect the oat seed at one of the many distribution points across the county.
Farmers, school teachers, gardeners, active age groups, mens sheds, artists, children and adults of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds showed up to collect their oat seed and join the project. There was even some who smuggled it across the borders into Sligo and Roscommon! We even ended up posting out seed in envelopes to people all across Ireland wishing to take part.

We set up a What’s App group for everyone that wanted to take part (Over 150 people) which is a brilliant way of us sharing our progress with each other, asking for advice or sharing ideas. And then the soil preparation and sowing began. Followed by the creation of scarecrows which turn out to be quite the competition amongst the group participants!
